VCDS - HOW TO LOG ALL ENGINE MEASURING BLOCK DATA

This information is available on the ross-tech web site (user manual).

VCDS can collect data from all measuring blocks for a single controller.

This is called CONTROLLER CHANNEL MAP.

This function allows you to capture all measuring block data from a single controller as a .csv file. (Comma Separated Variable).

You can do the same thing by opening each measuring block group (three at a time) and logging them using the log button.

The controller channel map method is much faster but the data needs processing once you have it.

How to use the controller map function.

Warm engine with at least a 10 minute drive.

Plug in VCDS and start engine, allow to idle.

The VCDS start screen looks like this.

Click the APPLICATIONS button.

Then you will see a screen like this.

Click the CONTROLLER CHANNEL MAP button.

Then you will see a screen like below.

Set the CONTROLLER ADDRESS to 01 (This is ENGINE).

Ignore LOGIN / SECURITY ACCESS CODE.

Click MEASURING BLOCKS button.

Click CSV FILE button.

Click Go.

VCDS will very quickly interrogate each module from 01 to 255 and produce a large data file.

Once it has finished you can log off and turn the engine off.

The .csv file that you created will be in the VCDS folder on your computer in a folder called LOGS.
